Erik studied guitar at the Utrecht Conservatory and passed a government examination guitar in 1984. A few years later he also obtained his qualification to teach bassguitar.
He was a member of several ensembles playing folkmusic and jazz.
Inspired by his love for Greek music, he became interested in playing the bouzouki.
He teaches guitar, bassguitar and bouzouki at the music department of the Koorenhuis, centre for art and culture, in the Hague, and is a member of the Muziek Collectief Bodegraven.
